Patio Covers & Pergolas in Tulsa

Tulsa has everything from 1920s brick bungalows to 1990s south Tulsa houses, and the right patio cover depends a lot on the house it’s attached to.

Your request goes to an independent local patio cover and pergola builder. No obligation.

Historic Districts

Parts of Tulsa are zoned as historic preservation (HP) districts. In those areas, a structure visible from the street may need review by the Tulsa Preservation Commission before you build. Backyard projects are often less of an issue, but check with the City of Tulsa before signing a contract. A builder who works in midtown regularly will know the process.

Small Lots and Setbacks

Many older Tulsa lots are narrow, with garages or alleys at the back. Zoning setbacks limit how close a structure can get to the property line, so a freestanding pergola at the back of the yard may need to be smaller than you hoped. The builder should check this before quoting.

Shade and Storms

Mature trees shade a lot of midtown yards, which can mean less need for a solid roof and more need for a cover that sheds leaves and stands up to falling branches. In newer south Tulsa neighborhoods with young trees, a solid or insulated roof does more of the work.
