Three Common Styles

Many builders combine them, such as a solid section next to the house and lattice at the outer edge.
How Aluminum Handles Oklahoma Weather
- Heat. Single-skin metal gets hot and radiates heat downward. Insulated panels fix that and are worth considering over a west-facing patio.
- Hail. Thin panels can dent in a bad storm. Ask about panel thickness and whether the warranty covers hail.
- Wind. Posts and the connection to the slab or footings are what keep a cover in place. Ask how it’s anchored.
- Rain. A slight pitch and a built-in gutter send water away from the house.

Colors and Finish
Most aluminum systems come in a few baked-on colors, usually white, almond, tan and darker browns or bronze. Matching trim or gutters helps the cover look like part of the house. HOAs in many Broken Arrow subdivisions approve specific colors, so check first.
